The real value of interior design
Hello Home Lover,

I thought this might be a good time to introduce myself and talk a bit about how I love to inspire and support interior lovers to create beautiful spaces in their own homes.
Gorgeous interior design really is a great investment. You’ll not only create a home that feels wonderful and supports you, and your family, mentally and emotionally, but professional interior design can add real, financial, value to your home as well.
Let me tell you about the real value of hiring an interior designer , in My favourite 5… along with five pictures from some of my favourite recent projects. Plus, keep reading for 10 random facts about me - you might be surprised by a few of them.
Ooh, and before I forget, congratulations to Lorena who was the lucky winner of my Velvet Dusk candle giveaway just before Christmas.
I hope you enjoy your prize.

Ways hiring an interior designer will add value to your home
Saving £££ by preventing costly mistakes
We all know interior design mistakes can be very costly. Whether that’s painting the walls in a colour it turns out you don’t like, or choosing a stair runner because its super-soft underfoot, only for the cat to shred it within a week. With my experience, I can help you avoid expensive missteps like impractical layouts, non-durable materials and poor colour coordination.
And together we can ensure your designs are cohesive, beautiful and long-lasting.
Design that’s tailor-made for your home
Not only do my Inspire Sessions help you to understand what speaks to you in terms of colours and styles, we can also use the time to come up with practical solutions for specific interior design issues you might have in your home. Perhaps you have an awkward space beneath the stairs or a challenging room with doors and windows in all the wrong places.
I can help you work through the options. And with clever use of colour, lighting and perhaps even bespoke furniture and soft furnishings we’re sure to come up with a way to resolve even the trickiest of issues.
Taking away the decision-making stress
Mental capacity is something we don’t hear talked about enough. When you’re busy, whether you’re working, caring for children or older relatives, or you have other activities that fill your time, finding the brain space required to make the myriad of decisions involved in renovating, isn’t always easy.
That’s when working with an interior designer can be worth its weight in gold. I can help take the enormity out of the decision making, presenting practical suggestions, vastly reducing pool of beautiful options in front of you and carefully guiding you towards a wonderful, stress-free result.
Making better use of available space
It stands to reason that if you custom-design cupboards and cabinetry, you’ll be able to use more of your space than if you were to buy off the shelf. But I’m always surprise when I hear that you actually gain up to 30% more storage space when you purpose-build your own units. That’s a huge amount. And great value.
Particularly if you have a growing family and you’re battling an ever-increasing mound of ‘stuff’ entering your home.
Great design always adds value
Another stat for you! A house that has been designed by an interior expert can achieve an uplift of up to 7% on its sale price. Simply because people will be able to better imagine themselves living in the space without having to do any work on it themselves. But of course, that doesn’t mean you should only consider hiring an interior designer if you’re about to move.
Why not take the plunge now, so you can live in a house you love for years before you come to sell it?

Hi, I'm Kay, the K in K Interiors!
I wanted to (re)introduce myself, but rather than reeling off my CV I thought, just for fun, I'd give you 10 random facts about me:
1.I’ve visited 15 different countries but London is still one of my favourite cities in the world.
2. My preferred brew is Rooibos tea. With or without milk and preferably with a biscuit.
3. I decorated my first room aged 8, choosing a wallpaper called ‘Dolly Mixture.’ And I loved it!
4. I have lived in 15 different houses (that’s a LOT of interiors to design!)
5. My claim to fame is that I was on TV a few years ago, working on DIY SOS with Sophie Robinson.
6. The last book I read? Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano. It’s all about love, loss and sisters, I can definitely recommend.
7. I lived in Tokyo for a year and now Sashimi is one of my favourite foods. Although my Japanese is still fairly illegible.
8. In the spirit of Sara Cox’s ‘Half Wower’. The first gig I ever went to was Del La Soul in Manchester in 1988. The last one, Massive Attack in Bristol earlier this year.
9. My
guilty TV pleasure is Gavin & Stacey - I just loved this year's Christmas finale. I also love a bit of Sex & the City/ And Just Like That, as the fashion is off the charts!
10. What do I love most about my job?
When I see my clients have a light bulb moment, when everything suddenly clicks into place and they identify with their true colours, styles and pattern preferences - it’s a beautiful thing.
New year, new space?
Colour consultations are a key part of what I offer as an interior designer – and while I mention it often, I don’t think I really talk about how absolutely life-changing it can be. When you truly understand the colours, prints, patterns and even textures that speak to you, far from being overwhelmed by all the choices available, you’ll just know when something feels right.
And that’s when you’ll find the courage to step outside of your comfort zone and make the brave choices that lead to the most beautiful interiors you can imagine.
If you’re interested in exploring your own sense of interior style, you can find out more about my Inspire Sessions (as well as my Full Design Service) on my website.
Fancy talking about your interior ideas?
I’m looking forward to some new and exciting projects in 2025 - the diary is already filling up!
But don’t worry, there are still a few slots available for Inspire Sessions in January and February and full projects from March. So if you do have a project in mind, but have a few questions, let’s have a chat.
We can talk through your plans and you can get a real feel for what it would be like to work with me. Let’s kickstart 2025 with a call in the diary.
See you next time, when I’ll be making a few 2025 interior predictions,

PS Happy New Year – wishing you a happy, healthy & stylish 2025!
